Programs
LIT (Leadership in Training)
This is a program designed by a Girl Scout GOLD Award about teaching Middle School and High School Students about on the job training. These applicants are asked to volunteer as Camp Counselors during the year (Most during the summer months) but also during Auditions, and larger shows. We create on the job training in students teaching art classes, running a successful rehearsal, learning stage and set design, at the same time; working alongside professionals who train them in the Arts fields. Our goal is ONCE these students turn 16 and "get a drivers license" they will be HIRED by our studio and have a better understanding of how much effort and volunteerism it takes to put on an actual production.

Please Note: Our Current Choreographer Emmy Claire Kaiden is a LIT with whom we help support her "dance eduction". Also -- Mila Ellis is the Girl Scout and the "BrainChild" to this program. I am THRILLED to partner with her and the Girl Scouts to foster this program to its success. She JUST received a $2000 Educational scholarship to UC Redlands to further her education in the arts.

To Make a Donation to support our LIT program: Is giving these teens supplies and learning tools to work in the arts. We want them to take further education classes in Dance, art, vocal and acting. We purchase t-shirts for our LIT Staff and we give them incentives like Pizza parties, Gift Cards, and Candy bars when Volunteering. NOTE: We can't "Pay their salary" -- We are preparing them to earn a salary and move into Paid Positions.
This Fund Donated to this program provide lessons for their continued education to become future leaders.
Scholarships
We provide Scholarships to roughly 10% of our Actors. Our request is simple. We ask that both ACTOR and ADULT/PARENT write a 100/200 word essay on
"Why it is important for them to be involved in the arts and our Theater Program?"
For many parents, sometimes they are going through divorce, or a recent hardship...and it's not recently recognizable on a "tax return" etc. But we want to hear from them. WHY? If they are a returning Actor, they MUST complete 10-20 hours of community service. It can be for us...but we also encourage them to participate in other groups. If they can not show us these accomplishments, they will be denied a scholarship. We do not want actors and families to abuse the privilege to be involved in our programs...but we want them to understand we care and want them to give back to the community they live in who provide these funds as well.
Our Scholarship Community is made up with Board Members who read the letters and track the involvement in the community.
This program also includes those youth and adults with Special Needs and those in the Foster Care System.
Musical Theater
Teaching by doing
We produce SHOWS! We try and do 2 larger main stage shows a year, and at least 2 other "black box" shows at our studio. We also perform many summer camps in our studio space as well.
Most of our performers are UNDER 18 years of age....but we are incorporating more Adults to work and train and participate with their actors. SBCT raise funds to produce the BEST shows possible at the best locations in our area. Most of our funds go toward these efforts. Our budgets range for $20,000 for an "in House" production to $40,000 for a production at a local school. We hire local artists to TRAIN and RUN our Lights and Sound....who also give back to train the next generation.
Cast fees, ticket sales, and other sales (telegrams etc) all help to offset our costs, but ultimately we aim to put on quality productions to excite our community and be supported by various arts programs to continue on our VAST inter-connected resources.
We value artists RIGHTS, we aim to hire and pay all artists a LIVING WAGE, and we seek support to continue our efforts to our Community we live in.
We are very PRO-ARTIST. Actor, Playwright, Musician, Director, Technical Crew. We support them all to earn a Living Wage within the arts.
Your donations toward Professional Costs echo our efforts.
